I can’t put down nor can I bring myself to finish the heartfelt stories in Gwendolyn Bound’s precious book “Little Chapel on the River” about the faithful general store and welcoming Irish pub that was just a short stroll from where we live on Garrison Landing for 50 years. How I wish I lived here then.
To all the Guinan family still here and those in heaven, to all the friends and lovers that made this pub like home, a great great St. Patrick’s Day to you all.

Got a glimpse of blue sky and decided to get out
Not a great day for hiking, started by trying to explore Manitoga but the entrance is still snowed in, scooted up 9D to Castle Rock. We tried but the clouds had filled the sky and the icy trail was not welcoming.

An Evening of Kirtan at Garrison Institute with Krishna Das.
An organization devoted to world change through Contemplation, Action, Transformation. This weekend the “Rock Star” of Yoga, Krishna Das, is conducting Heart of Devotion Retreat, a weekend of yoga, chanting and devotional heart-opening practices.
On Friday and Saturday evening there are Kirtan concerts open to the public, we are attending both nights. More Information Here

With the temperature this week ranging above 40° it feels positively balmy. Yet, I know spring is still weeks off . I will say this, the wonderful Farmers’ Market offerings sure do help shake off the winter blues. For winter CSFM is in the Parish Hall of St Mary-in-the-Highlands, on Saturdays

Have You Been To Arden Point
The view is magnificent
even in the cold cold winter, here is Diana, her sister Heidi and hubby Perry relaxing for a moment on Arden Point. Can’t wait for the spring to picnic here.
Arden Point State Park is an easy hike through beautiful woods, over a bridge spanning the railroad tracks and ending at a prominent rise over the Hudson River.

Living on “The Landing”
On a snowy day
towards the end of December we began our move from Montclair, NJ, to Garrison. Diana and I dwelt in Montclair for 27 years, raised two children, Nell and Pierce, and have many precious memories.
January 2015 began another great adventure here in the Hudson Valley. Where we will be making many rich deposits in our “Memory Banks”, as my mother. Elva, loved to say, the greatest wealth you can have.
She would have loved this place.
